Privacy Policy
Last Updated: Decmeber 17, 2025
The Short Version
Tap Tap Track keeps your data private. All your information is stored locally on your device. Location logging is completely optional. If you enable it, only anonymous coordinates are sent directly to Apple's servers for business and location name search. Tap Tap Track does not collect, store, or have access to any location data. Your personal data and tracked events remain private and never leave your device.
Introduction
Tap Tap Track ("we," "our," or "us") is developed and operated by Time Lapse Technologies LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the Tap Tap Track mobile application (the "App").
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This commitment is reflected in our core design philosophy: we built Tap Tap Track to function entirely offline with no data collection whatsoever.
Information We Collect
We collect no information.
Tap Tap Track does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage data, or any other data to our servers or any third-party servers. Specifically:
- No personal information — We don't ask for or collect your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information.
- No usage analytics — We don't track how you use the app, which features you access, or how often you open the app.
- No event data — The events you track, notes you write, and categories you create are never sent to us.
- No device information — We don't collect your device model, operating system version, or any device identifiers.
- No location data (by default) — Location logging is completely optional and disabled by default. If you choose to enable it for an event preset, see the "Optional Location Logging" section below.
- No crash reports — We don't collect or receive crash reports or error logs.
Data Storage
All data you create in Tap Tap Track is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:
- Tracked events and their timestamps
- Notes and context you add to events
- Categories you create
- Event presets and their configurations
- Location data (if you enable location logging): GPS coordinates, business names, and addresses - all stored locally on your device
This data:
- Remains on your device at all times
- Is automatically backed up by iOS if you use iCloud Backup (controlled by your iOS settings, not by us)
- Is deleted when you uninstall the app
- Can be exported by you at any time via the CSV export feature
Optional Location Logging
Location logging is completely optional and disabled by default.
Tap Tap Track includes an optional location logging feature that you can enable per event preset. This feature allows the app to automatically capture GPS coordinates and nearby business names when you track events with location-enabled presets.
IMPORTANT: Location data is ONLY sent to Apple's servers.
When location logging is enabled, the app uses Apple's MapKit service to search for nearby business and location names. Tap Tap Track does not collect, store, or have access to any location data. The only location data transmission that occurs is an anonymized call directly from your device to Apple's servers to fetch business names based on your coordinates.
How it works:
- You control it: Location logging must be explicitly enabled for each event preset. It is disabled by default for all presets.
- Your data stays private: All tracked events, location names, coordinates, and notes are stored locally on your device and never sent to Tap Tap Track's servers or any third-party servers.
- Only Apple receives location data: When location logging is enabled and you track an event, the app makes an anonymized call to Apple's MapKit servers to search for nearby businesses. Only your current GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to Apple's servers for this business name search. This data is sent anonymously with no personal identifiers and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Tap Tap Track does not collect location data: We do not collect, store, or have access to any location data. The location data is only used locally on your device and sent directly to Apple's servers for business name lookup. We never see, collect, or store this information.
- No personal information: Only anonymous coordinates are sent to Apple. No personal information, device identifiers, or any other data is transmitted.
- You can disable it anytime: You can disable location logging for any event preset at any time. Once disabled, no location data will be captured or sent.
What data is sent to Apple (and only Apple):
- GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) - anonymous, no personal identifiers
- Optional search query if you search for a specific business name
What data is NOT sent anywhere:
- Your name, email, or any personal information
- Device identifiers or account information
- The events you track or any notes you write
- Your location history or patterns
Tap Tap Track's commitment: We do not collect, store, or have access to any location data. Location data is only sent to Apple's servers for the purpose of fetching business and location names, and this data is not collected by anyone at Tap Tap Track or made available in any way aside from the anonymized call to Apple's servers. Tap Tap Track doesn't collect or send location data anywhere else.
Network Access
Tap Tap Track operates offline by default.
By default, the app has no network capabilities and operates entirely offline. Your tracked events, notes, categories, and all other data remain on your device.
Optional network access: If you enable location logging for an event preset, the app will make network requests to Apple's MapKit service only when you track an event with that preset. These requests are limited to fetching business names based on your coordinates. No other network requests are made, and all your personal data remains on your device.
Third-Party Services
Tap Tap Track does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data processors. We do not use:
- Google Analytics or any analytics service
- Crash reporting services (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
- Advertising SDKs or ad networks
- Social media SDKs
- Any third-party frameworks that collect data
Apple MapKit (Optional): If you enable location logging, the app uses Apple's MapKit framework to search for nearby businesses. This service is provided by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Tap Tap Track does not collect, store, or have access to any location data sent to Apple. The location data is sent directly from your device to Apple's servers for business name lookup only, and we never see, collect, or store this information.
Data Export
Tap Tap Track includes a CSV export feature that allows you to export all your tracked events. When you use this feature:
- The export is generated locally on your device
- You control where the exported file is saved or shared
- We never see or have access to your exported data
Children's Privacy
Tap Tap Track does not collect any data from any users, including children under 13. Since no data is collected, there are no special provisions necessary for children's privacy beyond our general policy of zero data collection.
Data Security
Your data is protected by the security measures built into your iOS device, including:
- Device encryption
- Face ID / Touch ID protection
- Passcode lock
- App sandboxing (other apps cannot access Tap Tap Track's data)
Since your data never leaves your device, there is no risk of server breaches or data leaks from our end — we have no servers and hold no data.
Your Rights
Because we don't collect any data, traditional data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised entirely through your control of your own device:
- Access: View all your data directly in the app
- Export: Use the CSV export feature anytime
- Deletion: Delete individual events in the app, or uninstall the app to delete all data
- Correction: Edit any event directly in the app
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. However, our commitment to zero data collection is fundamental to Tap Tap Track and will not change.
